April 29, 2008

Even though the day started off kind of crappy; rainy and cold; the late afternoon turned out nice. The rain stopped and the sun popped out briefly before clocking out for the day. I was sitting in front of a French restaurant on Sullivan Street called Jean-Claude. They have this flower box with pretty flowers planted in them.

For closer views of the flowers, check out the album.

Today's pictures were of people. We were taking a break at Once Upon A Tart. They have outdoor seating, a great place to people watch.

Today, we went into the bowels of New Jersey to look for this Japanese supermarket called Mitsuwa Marketplace. It's a really cool shopping destination for Japanese goods like grocery, foods, and books. It was a bit of a misadventure getting there as we don't have a car and relied on public transportation and our legs. Of course, after getting there, we realize that it was easier to get to than we originally started off with.

There's actually a shuttle bus from NYC that takes you directly to Mitsuwa Marketplace from Port Authority. But for those of you who liked to get there from Jersey City, here are the directions.

Take the New Jersey Lightrail towards Tonnelle Avenue but get off at Port Imperial Ferry and catch the NJ Transit Bus #158. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at Mitsuwa Marketplace. Please note that you have to have cash to get on the bus. I think you can get a ticket that serves both the Lightrail and bus at a discounted price.

I took some pictures while waiting for the NJ Lightrail heading back to Jersey City. We were right across the street from midtown. You can see the Empire State Building!

Today was another gorgeous day in Soho! The flowers are in bloom, full of color and happiness. And people wore their shades and summer clothes even though it is Spring. It was so nice to be in a dress and walking around without a jacket. I am looking forward to more warmer and sunny days!

It was a very nice day today after a day of chill. I was in Soho for lunch, heading back to the office from Sunrise Market. I was walking up Greene Street when I noticed this inviting roofdeck above a low story building. And then next to it, I noticed red and black fabrics draping on the fire escape. I just loved how it looked. As I headed up Greene Street to Prince Street, I couldn't help but notice the storefront displaying some playful mannequins of a lingerie store. Check it out or visit the photo album.

One of my favorite dogs is the Great Dane. I love that they are tall slender dogs. I have a preference for pointy ear blue Great Danes. They look elegant and regal. I'd want three. Well, I was heading over to Whole Foods on the Bowery when I noticed a woman walking two Great Danes. I didn't realize when I snapped the initial picture that the dog was peeing. Anyways, I love these dogs!

April 10, 2008 - Lilliput: my little friends

My friend and I went to a gallery opening in NoHo; gallery hanahou. The gallery show is called Lilliput - my little friends. The art featured the Blythe dolls! I've recently became obsessed with them and in fact, already own 3 plus 1 petite Blythe. The Blythes were all marching, like little cute zombies, towards a bed that visitors could jump in and lay in if they wanted, or sit. The artists who put the show together also took pictures of all guests and anyone brave enough to jump into bed. (Nobody literally jumped in) I laid in the bed but you won't see pictures of me here...

I think these dolls are just adorable. I can see why some people would think they are not so cute but they kind of grow on you. Especially when you see how many fans customize them. Also, the Blythes featured in the show are for sale at $250! I didn't buy one seeing as I already have 3 and have to take them out of the box yet. However, I did buy two books of the Blythes. I think they are catalogs of Blythe events that are organized by the official producers of the dolls after licenses was granted to CWC by Hasbro.

I think it might finally be Spring! The day started off a little cool but as the day progressed, it became bright, sunny, and warm! I was in the flower district this morning for a meeting and when I left, I was just overwhelmed with the various bright colors of flowers! I mean, check out the vibrant colors of these flowers!

Sorry for a long absence. I don't have any excuses or reasons. But I hope you'll enjoy this guy doing calisthenics on the Spring Street platform of the E and C train going downtown at around 9:45pm.
